Embryo Glue
Embryo Glue is a solution used for transfer of embryos at the final step of the IVF treatment. The embryos are simply placed into the liquid and allowed to soak in it for a few minutes before transfer. Even though it is called Embryo Glue, it is not a glue as you know it, but acts like an adhesive by increasing the chance of implantation of the embryo to the uterus. The glue-like effect is achieved by a relatively high concentration of hyaluronan, together with the safest protein source available.
Hyaluronan is a natural substance abundant in all tissues in the body. The levels of hyaluronan increase in the uterus at the time of implantation. The uterine wall and the embryo have receptor sites for this molecule. It is thought that the hyaluronan in EmbryoGlue helps the embryo to implant by increasing the adhesion of the embryo to the endometrium, a glue-like effect.
Embryo Glue also contains carbohydrates and amino acids needed to support the embryo during transfer and implantation. All those undergoing a fresh embryo transfer can benefit from EmbryoGlue.
